Peace is never made between friends – Armenia’s FM on talks with Azerbaijan

“Armenia has been under blockade for nearly 30 years, and now we are getting an opportunity. Therefore, we will move forward without delay, under the signed principles—territorial integrity, inviolability of borders, sovereignty, and jurisdiction,” said Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan during a Q&A session between the National Assembly and the Government. According to him, peace is never established between friendly nations, but rather between countries and peoples that have previously experienced bloodshed, war, and conflict. “We are at the beginning of the road. And to go even further, I can say that even if we sign a peace treaty in the near future, we still can’t say that everything is over and full peace has been established,” Mirzoyan noted. Referring to the issue of Armenian captives held in Baku, he added: “The issue of prisoners remains a key focus for us. Today, work continues toward their release—and it will continue tomorrow as well.”
