Human Rights Defender Anahit Manasyan has expressed concern over the increasing violations of the right to privacy and the protection of personal data.
Interference with private life often manifests through the collection and dissemination of personal data and information related to private matters.
The Human Rights Defender emphasizes that obtaining and distributing personal data in violation of the law constitutes not only a breach of constitutional, conventional, and legislative regulations but also an unlawful interference with several fundamental human rights, and must entail the legal accountability prescribed by law.
She calls on all relevant stakeholders to uphold the guarantees of personal data protection and the right to privacy, and to collect and disseminate personal data only in cases and procedures established by law.
State authorities, in turn, must develop and implement appropriate mechanisms for the protection of personal data.
