India eyes Turkey’s undeployed S-400 systems amid potential return to Russia
Indian media have shown interest in the S-400 air defense systems acquired by Turkey from Russia, which have not yet been deployed.
According to the Indian press, if Turkey, as a NATO member, decides to give up the systems and return them to Russia, the S-400s could potentially be sold to India.
Sources indicate that under the contract to purchase five S-400 units from Russia for $5 billion, only three have been delivered to India, while the delivery of the remaining two has been delayed due to the Russia-Ukraine war.
It should be noted that earlier reports suggested Russia was planning to take back the unused S-400s from Turkey, but Turkey’s Ministry of Defense later denied claims that Moscow had shown interest in them.
