UN Resident Coordinator: Peace opens opportunities, Armenia emerging as a regional leader

Peace creates opportunities and prospects, and Armenia’s recent steps in that direction bring not only political but also economic achievements. Françoise Jacob, the UN Resident Coordinator in Armenia, stated this at the “Countries Under One Roof” conference on September 30.
According to her, Armenia is opening up like a flower and emerging from isolation—this is what the “Crossroads of Peace” initiative is about. She added that it lays the foundations for sustainable growth and inclusive development.
“Armenia is applying for diplomatic leadership in the field of environmental protection by hosting COP17 next year. This means the country is ready to cooperate in building the future. The country is developing an entirely new, advanced business brand. The future must be green, and the climate crisis requires steady action from everyone, including the private sector. Armenia has made commitments within the framework of sustainable development until 2030, which aligns with global goals,” Jacob said.
She also pointed out the importance of ensuring capital inflows into various sectors whose activities promote environmental protection.
The UN representative emphasized that before COP17, Armenia will gain the world’s attention. “This will enhance the country’s global image as a responsible actor,” she concluded.
